Block Control Panel Access In Windows

Block Control Panel Access In Windows
This tutorial will explain how you can block access to the control panel on your pc so no one can change settings.

Is your pc shared and others changing settings like mouse, keyboard, etc? This will explain how you can block access to the control panel (also includes you not having access without changing it back) so no one can make changes. For Windows 2000, XP and Vista.

Directions:

1. Click on Start then Run and type in (no quotes) "gpedit.msc" and hit OK.
2. On the left side, under User Configuration, click on Administrative Templates.
3. On the right side, double click on Control Panel and then look for Prohibit access to the Control Panel.
4. Double click on that and you will see a popup window. Put a dot next to Enabled and then click Apply then OK.

Now if you try to access your control panel...you should see there is no way to get to it!

I do also want to point out that if you look around in the Administrative Templates, you will see there are options to hide certain Control Panel options and show certain ones...this tutorial only shows how to block access totally. Feel free to explore around with other options, but remember...you are doing at your own risk!

Restoring:

Just do the above steps except on number 4, put a dot next to Not Configured and then click Apply then OK.
